First showing up in August 1944 as a consequence of a special Air Ministry requirement, the FW190D9 had been an endeavor to make a high-altitude fighter based heavily on a preexisting fighter, the FW190A8. The red undersurfaces with white striped were designed to alert the flak gunners round the areas to an amiable aircraft.
