The Hawk T1A is a modified Hawk T1, that was meant to change the Hawker Hunter inside RAF's Tactical Weapons Devices. A complete of 89 aircraft had been converted to carry two underwing AIM-9L Sidewinder air-to-air missiles and a centreline gun pod. Through the 1980s, the RAF started using TWU Hawks in the Mixed Fighter Force (MFF) concept; the intention would be to attach three of four Hawks to a Phantom or Tornado interceptor, which will guide them which consists of powerful radar onto enemy goals.
