Description

The successor to your Leopard 1, the Leopard 2, was produced in 1979. Many different upgrade programs and options are for sale to the Leopard 2. These include the Atlas Elektronik Vehicle Integrated Command and Information System (IFIS), an electronic demand and information system. The Leopard 2 has already established technical improvements under Upgrading Level we and Level II programs. A brand new smoothbore weapon, the 120 millimetre L55 Gun, is produced by Rheinmetall GmbH of Ratingen, Germany to restore the reduced 120 millimetre L44 smoothbore tankgun regarding the Leopard 2. It permits effective use of a brand new APFSDS-T round, DM53 (LKE II), with a lengthier pole penetrator, and that will be under development.
