The GMC CCKW is a 2.5 ton 6X6 U.S. Army cargo truck that saw solution in World War II while the Korean War, often referred to as the "Deuce and a Half" or "Jimmy". The CCKW arrived in many variants, based on the available or shut cab, Long Wheel Base (LWB 353) or brief Wheel Base (SWB 352). At first all variations had been of the shut cab design (having a metal roof and doorways) with all metal cargo beds. But since the war progressed an available cab version was created which had fixed “half doorways” and a canvas top/sides, because of the steel sleep being changed by a wood anyone to conserve steel. The lumber sleep proved unsatisfactory and a “composite” sleep with metal edges and framing but with wooden slats the sleep was developed. Afterwards the wood/steel composite sleep was changed by an all metal composite bed.
