The Los Angeles course nuclear powered submarine is an assault submarine prepared for strike missions, antisubmarine
warfare, intelligence gathering and search and rescue. America Navy has 51 l . a . Class submarines, 16 into the Pacific Fleet and 32 in Atlantic Fleet. The initial was commissioned in 1976. Nine of the la course submarines were implemented in the Gulf War in 1991, when cruise missiles had been launched from two of the submarines. 12 Los Angeles submarines had been implemented in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in March/April 2003. All 12 launched cruise missiles.
