B-24D LIberator
The B-24 Liberator had been among the best known US long-range bombers, widely utilized during World War II, together with its companion and rival, the B-17 Flying Fortress. It could be recognised thanks to its “double drift” end. It had been created and built by Consolidated at the beginning of the 1940’s. The B-24 D had been the very first bombing version constructed on a large scale from 1942, with nearly 3,000 devices built through the conflict. Running on 4 Pratt & Whitney R-1830-43 1,200hp machines, with Hamilton-Standard propellers which pressed it to a maximum rate of 467 km/h, it disposed of an offensive payload of over 3,600 kg in bombs. It was applied to all fronts, both in Europe plus in the Pacific.
