AC-130H SPECTRE
The Lockheed AC-130 Spectre is an armed tactical support version of the C-130 Hercules. The AC-130 at first replaced AC-47 and AC-119 in supporting role through the war in Vietnam. USAF utilized the AC-130 for close help, area interdiction and force security. Close air help roles include supporting ground troops, escorting convoys, and flying metropolitan operations. Air interdiction missions are conducted against in the pipeline targets and goals of possibility, whereas force security missions include protecting atmosphere bases and other facilities. The AC-130 Gunship arrived in Southern Vietnam on 21 September 1967 and began combat operations that same year. Following the conflict in Vietnam, the U.S. Air Force designed a brand new range of these aircrafts basing in the C-130 H version, designed with far better engines, with four-blade propellers and upgraded variations associated with navigation and evening vision. The AC-130H called “Spectre” were utilized in most the conflicts relating to the U.S. Force of this last ten years and, after further upgrades, they have been still found in the conflict in Afghanistan.
