The multirole Tornado is a twin-engine combat aircraft with a variable-sweep wing. This aircraft could be the outcome of a joint development task carried out by British, German and Italian companies. Although during its life time it's been employed for a few purposes (ground assault, electronic combat/reconnaissance, interceptor), its main role happens to be to perform low-altitude penetrating hit missions. Tornado can load and use a strong and varied group of offensive tools. The Tornado baptism of fire occurred in 1991 through the Gulf War. The British Royal Air Force Tornado Gr. 1s, implemented on Bahrain and Saudi Arabia air
bases, had been crucial during “Operation Granby”.
