Through the 1930s Henschel had been tasked to develop and build a ground attack aircraft which could offer support to ground troops. This resulted in the creation of robust Henschel Hs-123 biplane, which was provided to traveling Squadrons in 1935. 1st operational deployment of the aircraft took place during the Spanish Civil War on Condor Legion squadrons. Because 880 hp BMW radial engine the Hs-123 surely could achieve a top speed of 340 km/h and may carry a large offensive payload. Through the 2nd World War, despite its proven reliability, the quick technological evolution of aircraft design, machines and gratification relegated the Hs-123 to supporting functions. On the Eastern Front for example, it absolutely was used mainly in a night-time ground assault role
