To compete in the FIA-Group 5 automobile tournaments, Porsche developed a unique car line characterized by dedicated motor and framework solutions, starting with the manufacturing associated with the famous 911 Turbo. Several variations of the model were made, but the most famous was the Porsche 935J. The “Baby” as it had been known, was built to compete in 2.0-liter German national championship (Deutsche Rennwagen Meisterschaft). It adopted a lighter framework for this competition because of the use of a tubular aluminum space framework. This solution enabled the car to have an overall weight of 735 kg which was in accordance with competition weight requirements. The vehicle used a 1.425 air-cooled engine with an electric performance of 261Kw. The Porsche 935J accomplished an essential success into the 1977 German Grand Prix held in Hockenheim, that proved its exceptional motor performance and design features.
