This big triple shaft amphibian vehicle was created during the second World War the American armed forces. The goal was to build an automobile to provide ammunition, meals and materials - kept within the holds of transport vessels - to invading troops occupying beachheads on enemy soil just after landing. The DUKW offered good navigating qualities and may go well off-road too, which, coupled with its high load capacity, enabled it to execute its logistic role to the full. Within the post-war years, it was popular by USA's allies completely towards the 70s, including civil protection projects.
