In the beginning of the 2nd WW, britain failed to have all of the technical equipment required for such a conflict, consequently lots of vehicles were purchased urgently. Motorcycles, mainly used by the well-known DR “Dispatch Riders” for interaction between different devices, were transformed from civilian bikes with small modifications, like armed forces color while the addition of frames for the canvas bags. Triumph proposed in a nutshell time the model 3HW, based on the civilian “Tiger 80”, with an overhead valve motor and parallel forks.This model served on all fronts in which the British military fought, particularly Africa, European countries and Asia. After 2nd WW these motorcycles had been sent to other countries, particularly Italy and Greece, where in actuality the Triumphs served for a long period thanks to their reliability and robustness.
