The Yamaha RZ250 made its first at 1979 Tokyo engine Show. It was powered by a 247cc 35hp 2-stroke water-cooled engine connected to the framework via two orthogonal mounts, which prevented motor vibrations from being transmitted towards the frame. This permitted both a more comfortable ride and an even more lightweight dual cradle framework design. It also showcased monocrossrear suspension and spiral-like spoke design tires. Using its exciting road-legal racer styling and revolutionary technical features, the bicycle left a lasting impression and became one of many best-selling 250cc class bikes on Japanese market.
