2006 Green Device
After an absence of twenty years, Kawasaki returned to MotoGP as a works team in 2003 making use of their very first race bike with a 4-stroke engine, the ZX-RR. The 2003 racing season proved difficult, but 2004 saw the arrival of Japanese rider Shinya Nakano and a lot of development progress was made. The 2006 model came packed with eye catching cowlings and a newly created inline 4 cylinder 990cc engine bursting with power. At French GP, Kawasaki battled for pole place thanks to group driver Shinya Nakano's superb work. Nakano within Dutch GP, won a podium finish together with his second placing which can be Kawasakis best ever complete. In joining the top trip GP competition, the Kawasaki ZX-RR has shown its great potential.
