Hitting "the Smooth Underbelly"
Prior to the massive invasion at Normandy, the Allies first set foot on European soil within their intrusion of Italy, famously described by Winston Churchill as element of European countries's "the soft underbelly." Sherman tanks within theater of operations frequently had their standard general olive drab paint scheme overlaid with sand to create a two-tone camouflage pattern considerably better towards the Mediterranean environment. This beautifully finished display model features a tank belonging to C Company of 756th Battalion fighting regarding the Italian front side in February of 1944.
