1/700 Japanese Light Cruiser Kuma
Japanese Navy doctrine had battleships and their big weapons playing the main part in naval battles, and a strong "8-8" fleet of 8 battleships and 8 battlecruisers had been in the pipeline. To escort this fleet, the Kuma ended up being set down in 1918 once the lead ship of her namesake class of 5,500 ton light cruisers. This model depicts the ship as she appeared between 1939 and 1940, with her 3 straight funnels, easy bridge, and single 14cm weapons, all distinctive features of Japanese light cruisers from that period, accurately reproduced. Perhaps the degaussing cables anchors are crisply molded on synthetic.
