To counter the increasing risk of the German anti-tank forces, the Russian Army created the KV-1B, an improved version of their KV-1 heavy tank, in 1940. It featured additional armor plates bolted about the turret and hull, causing increased armor thickness of 120mm on the turret front side aswell as 110mm in the turret edges and hull front side. It showcased more solid protection, but at precisely the same time this reinforcement increased the tank's fat therefore paid down its mobility. The bolt-on armor ended up being later changed to a welded application for greater effectiveness. . The Tamiya 1/35 scale model is a faithful reproduction model kit that was initially introduced in 1988.
