The M5A1 light tank which was developed from the M3 Stuart light tank had been put into manufacturing from January 1943. It was powered by twin four-stroke V8 300hp Cadillac gas engines which enabled a high rate of 58km/h. It arrived armed with a 37mm main gun and two 7.92mm device firearms and showcased additional armor plating on turret's right side to protect the anti-aircraft device gun. Roughly 6,800 units were produced and had been used mainly in reconnaissance roles on Italian and North West European Fronts.
