German 88mm Gun FLAK37 “Siege Of Tobruk”
Just Another Day on the Gun Line
May 26, 1942, Field Marshal Rommel's Africa Corps established an assault against the British defensive line western of Tobruk which stretched from Gazala to Bir Hacheim. While they advanced, they encountered an Uk product built with the latest M3 Grant tanks which threatened to prevent the offensive. The Africa Corps had been saved once the 88mm guns associated with the Luftwaffe's anti-aircraft devices swung into action. Their accurate long-range fire forced the British tanks to retreat, allowing the Africa Corps to carry on their advance and finally capture Tobruk on June 21st.
