Description
The USS Missouri (BB-63) was the 3rd ship of this Iowa-class and ended up being commissioned in 1944. Through the Pacific War, she supported attacks on Kyushu and Okinawa and then took part in actions including the bombardment of Muroran in Hokkaido. It is a well-known proven fact that the signing ceremony of Japan's surrender papers occurred on the Missouri's decks on September 3, 1945.
