00106 LCAC JMSDF The JMSDF LCAC (Landing Craft, Air Cushioned) was introduced from United States as a landing art of LST Osumi course ships. It cruises having its hull floated about four feet above the surface. It is therefore capable of landing straight from mom ship on coastline, and swift loading and unloading of automobiles. This makes it easy for troops to access 70per cent worldwide's coastline, while only 17% for traditional landing crafts. It may carry heavy payloads of 60 tons, equal to one kind 90 tank, or four armored vehicles. The four 4000hp engines, two for floating together with other people for propelling, are mounted separately both in modules of this hull. Although JMSDF LCACs were originally in the offing as LST-based crafts, in 2004 these were assigned within the 1st air cushioned art squadron. They were numbered from LCAC-2191 to LCAC-2196, and began to be treated as defense vessels.
