Beginning in 1942, the 5-ton Zugkrafywagen was superseded by the 8-ton Zugkrafywagen since the selfpropelled mount the 3.7cm Flak. The 3.7 cm Flak 36 was replaced by the 3.7 cm Flak then by the 3.7 cm Flak toward the end of 1944. Beginning in 1943, an armor radiator shield and team cab were introduced as protection against shell fragments and small-arms fire. Production for the Sd .Kfz .7/2 started in 1942, and continued towards the end of the war, with about 1000produced by the conclusion of January 1945. Initially, there were nine Sd.Kfz. 7/2 in each Flak-Kompanie or Batterie; risen to 12 in October 1943.
