Once the advocate war tank from center amount of the seventies towards eighties, 74 types tank was the next generation of tanks which Japan created following the war, development started in 1964. Made some test cars during 1964- 196, and carried on the test. Finished the part after developing the experimental task in 1967, started to develop the sample automobile, had been named STB, suggest " the 2nd generation of domestic tank sample automobile ". Finalized the design in September of 1974, is named 74 types tank. Gotten the initial batch of productive automobiles in September of 1975, stopped manufacturing in 1990, produced 870 altogether.
