To resolve the issue for the fear of inadequacy of armor protection in the already heavily armored KV-1 Model 1941, It was decided to bring the armor protection regarding the turret up to a thickness to 75mm. Because the convenience of producing such a thick armor dish had been lacking during the time, so an interim solution was to make use of bolt on armor, 25 mm of depth, bolt straight to the outside associated with the turret plus some other parts associated with hull.
