The M46 had been a greater M26 Pershing tank and something for the U.S army's principal medium battle tanks of very early Cold War, with models operating from 1949 on mid 1950s. The M46 tank had been made to replace the last M26 Pershing and M4 Sherman. On 30 July 1948, standardized the M46 and named it the overall Patton, in honor of General George S. Patton Jr. It absolutely was not widely used by U.S. Cold War allies, being exported only to Belgium, and just in little figures to train teams in the future M-47.
